• Always have batteries installed by a qualified mobility scooter or wheelchair technician.
• Always fully charge batteries before first use.
• Always follow the installation and start-up instructions provided by Top Gun Mobility.
• Most mobility scooters and powerchairs operate using two batteries connected in a 24-volt series configuration.
• Never mix different battery brands, technologies, or batteries with mismatched date codes.
• Never combine Gel and AGM batteries in the same unit.

• Deep cycling is a process used by active powerchair users that cycle their batteries daily. This requires a unique battery design that will sometimes compromise initial capacity in return for longer battery life.
• Gel battery performance improves once the battery has been cycled (discharged and recharged) 15 - 20 times.
• This break-in period is necessary to fully activate the battery for maximum performance and longevity.
• Your range and running time of your mobility device could initially increase with use.

• The charger supplied with your mobility device is designed to fully recharge the batteries overnight. Modern smart chargers are voltage-regulated and automatically switch off once charging is complete, so overcharging is not a concern.
• Sealed VRLA GEL and AGM batteries do not suffer from the capacity-reducing “memory effect” associated with some other battery types.

• Always use the automatic charger supplied or recommended by Top Gun Mobility.
• Never use an automotive or wet-cell charger on Sealed VRLA Gel or AGM batteries, as this can cause permanent damage.
• Battery cycle life is directly affected by depth of discharge – the deeper the discharge, the shorter the expected lifespan.
• Always avoid ultra-deep discharges.
• Never allow batteries to become completely flat.
• Never leave batteries in a low state of charge for extended periods. Recharge discharge batteries as soon as possible.
• Avoid repeatedly operating batteries at a low state of charge without fully recharging them on a regular basis.

• Always store batteries in a fully charge condition.
• Inspect stored batteries monthly and recharge if required.
• Fully charged Sealed VRLA Gel and AGM batteries can retain their charge for up to 6 months; however, they must be recharged before use.
• If storing a powerchair or scooter for longer than two weeks, fully charge the batteries and then disconnect them during the storage period.
• Avoid exposing batteries to extreme heat or cold while in storage.
• Sealed VRLA Gel and AGM batteries are maintenance free and do not require watering.
